Wild Words Suffolk is a community project led by Jane Spencer-Rolfe and Mai Black to promote creativity and well-being across the county.
This page is currently being updated. Please click here or on the picture below to visit the new one.

Since November 2024, this bespoke Wild Words box has been travelling around Suffolk, stopping at various publicly accessible locations where people might be tempted to sit down, write something and post it in the box.
Wild Words Suffolk – How it Works
At each venue we hold an informal Wild Words meet-up to encourage local people to get involved and (hopefully) pen a couple of short pieces to post in the box. If requested, I can also run a dedicated creative writing workshop as part of the visit.
Then the box usually stays in the venue for a week or two so that people can visit in their own time to get creative and/or let off steam through the power of the pen.
When the box is collected, we read all the pieces and share a selection on the Wild Words Suffolk Facebook page. When posting in the box, names are optional and pen names are encouraged, especially for anyone under eighteen. If anyone doesn’t want their work featured on social media, they write ‘not for sharing’ somewhere on their piece of paper.

How to Get Involved

If you run a cafe, community hub, public house, library, bookshop, or similar venue and are interested in hosting the Wild Words Suffolk box, please get in touch. We are also looking for Wild Words Suffolk Ambassadors to support the project and raise awareness in their local areas
To contact Jane Spencer-Rolfe or Mai Black, either send a message to our ‘Wild Words Suffolk’ page on Facebook , or email Jane at wildwordssuffolk@gmail.com.

Here are few examples of pieces posted. As you can see, anything goes: lists, stories, poems, memories, thoughts, feelings and accompanying pictures are all encouraged. No judgement, only encouragement.
